Los Angeles Voices In Action: Community Outreach Resources Education (LAVIACORE)
After more than 20 years in education, I’ve seen firsthand a consistent gap between schools and families. While schools genuinely try to bridge this divide, family and parent engagement often remains a challenge. Research also notes that traditional involvement efforts often fall short when they focus on participation alone (events, volunteering) rather than authentic engagement, listening, relationship-building, and co-creating solutions with families. This shift toward whole-community learning is where engagement becomes truly impactful.
Through my education and career experiences, I learned that meaningful community outreach isn’t about programs alone, it’s about building authentic relationships, making connections, and truly serving the community. In short, when families and communities can relate to school leadership, engagement becomes authentic, involvement becomes meaningful, and schools function as shared spaces where responsibility, learning, and success are truly collective.
The vision of creating welcoming spaces where families feel heard, valued, and connected to whole-community learning inspired the creation of LAVIACORE, LLC. I look forward to partnering with organizations that share this commitment to collaboration, trust, and lasting impact.
We envision a Los Angeles where whole-community education creates opportunities for every student, family, and neighbor to thrive, fostering equity, collaboration, and lifelong learning.
